Fab Celebrates 1,000,000+ Well Designed Smiles, Just 5 Months From Launch

It’s no secret that Fab.com has been growing like crazy.  

We’re now ready to celebrate a major milestone. 

Just 5 months after launching our sales on June 9, 2011, Fab.com now has well over 1 million active members.  More recently, we’ve added more than 250,000 new members in just the last 30 days alone.  And, by their 15th week on Fab.com, 20% of every cohort of members has made a purchase. Extraordinary.  Meanwhile, we’re seeing 33% monthly revenue growth. 



Positive word-of-mouth from our members and an extraordinary high rate of social sharing on sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest has been fueling our growth.  That, and our commitment to presenting daily “wow” products that people get excited about and want to tell their friends about, are the reasons behind our hitting 1 million members in just 5 months. We can directly trace 50% of our membership back to social sharing. 

If there’s one absolute truth about social media it is that it has to be authentic.  You can’t make people share. People share when they are inspired and excited and passionate about a website, a product, a service. In our case, we hear constantly that people are inspired by the design of our website & apps and most importantly, by the products we suprise and delight them with day-in and day-out on Fab.com.  You can’t force that. It has to be authentic. 

To celebrate, we’re giving every one of our 1 million plus members $10 free credit to spend towards any purchase in the next 24 hours. And, our members can also pass along the love with their friends, giving them $10 to spend as well. 

That’s just our little way of saying thanks for supporting us in our early days.

This fast growth has not come without a set of challenges. We’re processing tens of thousands more orders per month than we ever expected to at this point in our lifecycle. As you might expect, that has created operational issues and challenges galore, as we’ve been doing our best to get people their favorite design stuff as quickly as humanly possible. Thankfully for our members, we’re getting a lot better at that — very quickly.

We’re literally investing millions of dollars into our operations so that we can get people their stuff immediately after they order it. As an example, all of the items in our special holiday shop, The 100+ Best Design Gifts Under $100 are sitting in our warehouse and able to get to you within 2 to 5 days of order. We’re also soon adding on fast shipping options for 1-day and 2-day shipment anywhere in the U.S. All that will be in place in the next few weeks. And, soon, you’ll also be able to easily browse all items on Fab that you can get in just a couple of days.
