Changes Ahead!
We announced today at XING that I will be leaving my position as Chief Product Officer at the end of this year.
On the one hand, this was a tough decision for me as I’ve really enjoyed working for XING in 2009. It has been an incredible experience for me to live in Hamburg, Germany and to work with and learn with the XING team. As I noted today in our all-company meeting, I judge my professional experiences based on how much I learn. On that metric alone, 2009 has been a fantastic year for me. I’m also incredibly bullish about XING and I’m super excited for what XING has planned for 2010.
On the other hand, I’m a startup guy.
I wouldn’t be true to myself if I wasn’t spending my days working with startups and founders, and personally getting back to basics and starting another company from scratch again.
So, that’s what I’ll be doing in 2010. Starting. Again.
My current plan is to move back to New York around the end of 2009 and setup shop there again. I’ll be making some more investments on behalf of betashop and serving as an active advisor to some more companies. I’ll also be spending at least 98% of my time founding a new company, Fabulis, which I am particularly passionate about. Fabulis, like socialmedian was, will be a joint partnership between myself and Nishith Shah and his team at True Sparrow.
